1

Last Making

At the heart of our shoemaking process lies the last, a crucial element carefully crafted to match each customer's unique foot measurements and style preferences. Using traditional techniques and century-old tools passed down through generations, we meticulously carve, rasp, and sand each last by hand. This detailed process considers foot mechanics and heel height to ensure unparalleled quality and comfort. Our commitment to time-honored craftsmanship guarantees exceptional, custom-fit footwear for every customer.

Designing & Pattern Making

Pattern making is a critical step in our shoemaking process, involving the creation of precise paper patterns for the upper, heel, sole, insole, and stiffeners. Using the Lunati pattern making technique, our designs ensure perfect sizing and detailed craftsmanship. Eugo Gombosed’s expertise allows for innovative and accurate patterns, and his skill in selecting the ideal leather based on weight and pliability guarantees both aesthetic appeal and high performance in every shoe.

Clicking, Skiving & Upper Stitching

Clicking involves cutting leather into precise pieces based on the design and patterns, while skiving thins the leather edges for easier sewing and a refined appearance. The upper part of the shoe is then meticulously sewn together. Eugo employs traditional techniques to ensure perfect cuts and stitches, maintaining the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Lasting, Welt & Sole Stitching

Lasting involves shaping the shoe by pulling the upper over the last, a highly skilled and complex process. The traditional English method of welted sole stitching is then employed, with each stitch meticulously sewn by hand—up to 16 stitches per inch—using premium vegetable-tanned sole leather from Germany. This craftsmanship, impossible to replicate in factory-made shoes, ensures superior quality. Eugo adheres to his grandfather’s traditional techniques throughout, guaranteeing each shoe is crafted with exceptional care and precision.

Finishing & Polishing

In the final stage, we create custom insoles and color the shoes to achieve the desired style, requiring exceptional artistic skill and experience. The shoes are then meticulously polished to a luxurious, mirror-like shine, enhancing the beauty of your bespoke footwear.

Trial Shoe & Quality Check

A trial pair of shoes is made with inexpensive leather and a temporary sole. The customer is invited to a fitting to assess the fit and appearance. This fitting provides an opportunity to make revisions, such as adjusting the heel height or the shape of the toe. Attention to detail is crucial in handmade shoes, so the shoemaker takes final measurements while the customer wears the shoes. Any slight pressure points are addressed, ensuring the ultimate comfort and perfect fit. This process allows the artisan to make any necessary adjustments to the customer's last and design. At euGo, we take pride in every step of our bespoke shoemaking process, delivering shoes that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern design, ensuring a perfect fit and exceptional quality.
